Frequently Asked Questions

Privacy

The Hacienda and Casa Del Sol are paired villas.  The atrium and back deck are a semi-shared space.  There is a wall up on the back deck between the two properties.   The villas feel just like private homes.  The area around the Properties is very quiet and private.

Hacienda verses Casa Del Sol

They are both very, very similar.  Both are very unique and beautiful.  The Casa Del Sol has two bedrooms upstairs.  Sometimes families with small children like the Casa Del Sol because the kids are closer.  The Hacienda has the master upstairs and the guest bedroom down.  Families who have elderly travelers like the Hacienda because the extra bedroom is downstairs.

Hot Tubs

The hot tubs are completely separate and very private.  They are both located in a private area and each has a nice ocean views.

Beach Access

The Villa sits on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  The cliff edge is approximately 50 feet from the house.  The cliff is too steep to traverse.  The walk to the beach is north down a quiet country road (10 minutes) or hop in the car, park and be there is seconds.

**The beach is wide, sandy and quiet.

Ocean Views

Each property commands ocean views from the living rooms, dinning rooms, kitchens, Master suites, back decks, hot tubs and atrium.

Pets

The Villa is pet friendly however we ask that you “clean up” after your pet.  The furniture is only for Human use.  Please let us know if you are bringing a pet in advance or the security deposit of $300 is retained.

Fires on the Beach

In many places it is ok to have a fire on the beach as long as you keep it small and away from driftwood.  Check for signs at the pull outs and parking places that will advise fire issues for that location.

Long Distance

The telephones do not allow you to call any long distance numbers.  Please make sure you bring a calling card or a cell phone that works is the area.

Routes to take to get here:

  • Highway 101: The only north-south route, and the highway you'll always end up on. All east-west routes empty onto 101 to the north and south of the region.  Take your camera and lots of film--it's hard to resist the scenery between Port Orford, Gold Beach and Brookings!
  • Highway 199: East-west route that connects Grants Pass to the Coast, cutting through the picturesque Coastal Mountain Range. This is an unusual route, because in order to go to the beach, you have to go SOUTH! Highway 199 winds south into Northern California as it works its way west, and you end up on the Coast Highway 101 at Crescent City (which means you now have to drive NORTH!). You'll want to remember two things; 1) Drive slowly through the canyon--on the California side where they say the road is narrow and winding for the next 14 miles, they mean it! and 2) Give yourself plenty of time. You may decide to stop and check out the Oregon Caves along the way. Shortcut tip: Shave a few minutes off your driving time by taking 197 (just past Hiouchi on 199). It reaches Highway 101 about 10 miles north of Crescent City.
  • Highway 42: East-west route which starts at Bandon/Coos Bay, connecting to Interstate 5 at Roseburg. A winding road but well-maintained with plenty of passing lanes.
  • Highway 38: East-west route which starts at Reedsport and ends at the Drain exit (north of Roseburg, south of Eugene). Well-maintained, lots of passing lanes, not as winding as other routes.
